Binned them or never had them? Don’t despair, give these a go. Oats are not all the same, keep a close eye first time round and be prepared to adjust the cooking time.
Oats - try 40g oats with 300ml cold milk or water. Microwave on high for 2 mins, stir, then microwave on high for approximately 2 mins, until you achieve the desired consistency. To heat on the hob, bring the pan to the boil, then simmer, stirring occasionally for 4-6 mins.
Oatmeal - follow oat hob instructions and simmer for 5-7 mins.
Follow the cooking instructions on your porridge packet for the correct quantity of ingredients and cooking time.
Pour in or scoop up the oats or oatmeal. Shake lightly to level and check. Adjust if necessary. Pour into bowl or pan.
Measure out the milk or water and add to bowl or pan. Give it a stir.
Heat in the microwave or on the hob. Adjust timings to suit your microwave. Porridge will continue to thicken as it cools, so we aim for a little on the runny side.
Allow porridge to stand for a minute before eating. Keep it simple or add a sprinkle of brown sugar, a few blueberries or a drizzle of honey. Enjoy!
